Ira M. He also served as a member of the Trial Lawyers Care Committee and represented victims of the World Trade Center Disaster without compensation.

For ten years, he was a member of the board of directors for the Lyme Disease Foundation. Mr. Maurer is considered the forefather of Lyme disease-related litigation in the United States, having won the first negligence-based case in the country on behalf of four signal department workers against the Long Island Railroad, and has been a guest speaker on the subject.

Ira Maurer's education began with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harpur College, the liberal arts school at the State University of New York at Binghamton, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law. He has been married for over 30 years and has two daughters.
