A recent AAA survey says that they might be. AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety surveyed 2,511 licensed drivers from August 26 to September 6, and the results of the survey may surprise you.
Over 88 percent of 19- to 24-year-old drivers willingly reported that they had engaged in driving behaviors that they admitted were dangerous, such as: speeding, running red lights, and texting while driving.
The survey found that millennials:
- Type texts or emails at almost twice the rate of other drivers.
- Almost half of millennials said they had run a red light even when they had plenty of time to stop.
- Almost 12 percent of millennials reported that speeding 10 mph over posted limits was acceptable in a school zone.
The alarming attitudes uncovered in the survey could explain the recent increase in traffic deaths. In 2015, the death toll rose 7 percent to 35,092 lives lost.
